We have an in-house PA system, which is ideal for kids parties, speeches, presentations, etc. We also have a projector and large screen. We charge a setup fee of £10 for the use of this equipment.
Where a more advanced PA system is required, in partnership with BradSound, we can supply various sizes of system (pending availability) with both wired and wireless mixing capabilities on offer. We can accommodate everything from light amplification to rock bands with amps that go to eleven (those who know, know!).
BradSound is a BAMC initiative (Bradninch Acoustic Music Club) and is offered as a community resource for a small upkeep fee, starting at just £30 per event for local residents.
The Guildhall has an entertainment licence and is PRS registered.
The Guildhall does not have an alcohol licence. If you wish to sell alcohol at the Guildhall, you will need to get a Temporary Event Licence (TEN) from Mid Devon District Council, costing £21. This is required even if you are a personal alcohol licence holder. You can get a TEN here:
For the sake of clarity ...
• Free alcohol can be distributed at a private event.
• "Bring Your Own" events are permitted.
• If you are holding a ticketed event where the cost of the ticket includes alcohol, that is deemed as selling alcohol, and a TEN is required.
• Similarly, you may not serve alcohol and ask for specific donations.
• The Castle Pub, next door to the Guildhall, can arrange a TEN for some events.
Setting up and tidying up are the responsibility of the hirer. All setup and tidy-up time is chargeable at the same rate of hire as the event.
We may on occasion allow access to the venue ahead of the commencement of hire for setting up. Equally we may on occasion allow tidying up to wait until the following morning (for instance, in the event of a late party or concert). However, this cannot be guaranteed, and it won't always be possible, so please speak to us about it.
There are clear setup and tidy-up instructions in each of the rooms.
The Guildhall has a strict 11pm noise curfew. People are to vacate the premises as soon after this time as possible (quietly, please, out of respect for our neighbours). Unless an extension has been granted, the premises must be completely vacated by midnight.
Our Terms and Conditions (below) go into greater depth about the curfew.
